Finding the Balance Between Being and Doing
Wood, Rusted Metal, Bullet Casings, This piece evolved from my struggle with “doing” and “being”. Instilled in me since childhood was the belief that my worth as a human being was measured by what I was doing, what I accomplished and I knew that my balance between doing and being had to change. I just let go – let go of the societal shoulds, musts, wants and embraced intention, joy, openness, awareness. My “doing” now emerges from my “being.” Her rusted wing is my letting go, her bullets killing off the societal musts, her spiral grounds her to the earth, her body is full, luscious and beautiful and her other wing lets her soul fly and live. “We are human beings, not human doings.” Deepak Chopra |
